Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
QinRec ("we," "us," "our") operates qinrec.shop. We provide QR-coded apparel linked to parent and guardian contact profiles to help reunite lost or separated children and vulnerable adults with their families.
For privacy enquiries, contact us via our contact page.
2. Information We Collect
Account information: When you register, we collect your email address, full name, and phone number(s). This information forms your public safety profile.
Order information: When you place an order we collect your shipping address, payment details (processed securely by Square — we never store card numbers), and order history.
Usage data: We collect standard server logs including IP addresses and browser type for security and performance purposes. We do not use this data for advertising.
Communications: If you contact us, we retain that correspondence to resolve your enquiry.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
We are committed to minimal data collection, especially regarding children. We do not collect:
- Any personally identifiable information about children or dependants
- Children's names, ages, photographs, or physical descriptions
- Location data from QR code scans
- Payment card numbers (handled entirely by Square)
- Social security numbers or government ID information
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Generate and link QR codes to your contact profile
- Process and fulfil your orders
- Send order confirmations and shipping updates
- Respond to customer support enquiries
- Send promotional emails if you have opted in (you may unsubscribe at any time)
- Improve our platform and prevent fraud
5. Public Safety Profiles
By providing your name and phone number, you are explicitly directing QinRec to display this information on a public-facing web page accessible to anyone who scans your unique QR code. This information is shared voluntarily for the sole purpose of emergency reunification.
You maintain full control over this profile. You may update, hide, or delete this information at any time via your account dashboard. Requests for permanent data deletion (hard-delete) can be initiated by contacting us through our Data Request portal.
Minimal Data Commitment: QinRec does not provide fields for, and strictly discourages the entry of, any information regarding children or dependents. We are not responsible for personally identifiable information you choose to include in your own contact labels.
6. How We Share Your Information
QinRec does not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Square: Payment processing. Subject to Square's privacy policy.
- AWS: Cloud infrastructure and file storage. Subject to AWS's privacy policy.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users.
We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing platforms.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account and order information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for legal and business purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us via our contact page.
8. Security
We employ Privacy-by-Design principles. Your public safety profile is accessed via a URL derived from a one-way SHA-256 hash. This architecture ensures that simply knowing a URL does not allow a third party to 'guess' or 'enumerate' other user profiles. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.2+, and data at rest on our AWS infrastructure is protected by standard administrative and technical safeguards.
No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately via our contact page.
9. Children's Privacy
Our platform is designed for use by parents and guardians aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our products are worn by children, but we do not collect, store, or display any data about those children.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information about a child, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information via your account profile
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Opt out of promotional emails at any time
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
In accordance with Texas law, we will respond to your request to access, correct, or delete your data within 45 days of receipt. We will verify your identity using your account credentials or other secure means before processing the request. If you are a Texas resident and we deny your request, you have the right to appeal our decision by contacting us via our primary contact page.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via our contact page.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
