Terms of Service

1. Overview

Welcome to QinRec ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, purchasing products, or using any part of our platform at qinrec.shop, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

QinRec provides QR-coded apparel linked to parent and guardian contact profiles. Our mission is to help reunite lost or separated children and vulnerable adults with their families as quickly as possible.

2. Accounts and Registration

To purchase products and register QR codes, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your contact information up to date.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@qinrec.shop if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Public Safety Profiles — What We Publish

When a QR code on an QinRec garment is scanned, the scanner is directed to a public-facing safety profile page. This page displays only the following parent or guardian contact information:

  • Parent or guardian full name
  • Primary phone number
  • Secondary or emergency phone number (if provided)
  • Email address

This information is intentionally limited to what is necessary for a good samaritan to contact you quickly in an emergency. You may update this information at any time from your account profile page.

4. Child Data — What We Do Not Publish

QinRec does not collect, store, or display any personally identifiable information about children or dependants. Specifically:

  • We do not store the child's name, age, date of birth, photograph, or physical description
  • We do not display any child information on public profile pages
  • We do not associate any child data with QR codes
  • We do not share child data with third parties under any circumstances

The QR code on each garment links exclusively to the parent or guardian contact profile described in Section 3. No information about the child wearing the garment is accessible via the QR code.

This design is intentional. We believe the safest approach is to connect a finder directly with a parent — without exposing any information about the child to unknown parties.

5. How QR Codes Work

Each order generates a unique QR code linked to your account. The QR code encodes a URL derived from a one-way cryptographic hash of your contact information. This hash cannot be reverse-engineered to reveal your personal details.

When your profile contact information is updated, the updated information is displayed automatically on all existing QR scans. Your QR codes do not need to be reprinted when you update your phone number or name.

QR codes are associated with individual orders. If you place multiple orders, each order receives its own QR code, all of which link to your current contact profile.

6. Your Responsibilities

By using QinRec, you agree to:

  • Keep your contact information accurate and current so that you can be reached in an emergency
  • Not share your account credentials with others
  • Not use the platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Not attempt to access another user's profile or account

7. Orders and Payments

All payments are processed securely through Square. QinRec does not store payment card information. By placing an order you agree to pay the listed price including applicable shipping costs and taxes.

Each UnLost shirt is custom printed with a unique QR code linked to your profile. As a result, please allow up to 2 weeks for production and fulfilment. Shipping times are in addition to production time and vary by selected method. We will notify you by email when your order ships.

We reserve the right to cancel orders that cannot be fulfilled and will issue a full refund in such cases.

8. Returns and Refunds

Due to the personalised nature of QR-coded garments, we are unable to accept returns on items where a QR code has been activated. Defective or incorrect items may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Contact support@qinrec.shop to initiate a return.

We understand that sizing can be tricky. If your item doesn't fit as expected, please reach out to us and we will work with you to find a solution, including exchanges for a different size where stock permits.

9. Privacy

Your use of QinRec is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in compliance with applicable privacy laws.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not display advertising on our platform. Contact information displayed on public safety profiles is provided voluntarily by you for the express purpose of emergency reunification.

10. Promotional Communications

If you opt in during registration, we may send you occasional emails about new products and promotions. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by updating your preferences in your account profile.

11. Limitation of Liability

QinRec provides a technology platform to facilitate emergency contact between finders and parents. We do not guarantee that a QR code will be scanned in any given situation, that a finder will act on the information displayed, or that a child will be successfully reunited. QinRec is a safety tool — not a substitute for local emergency services.

In an emergency, always call 911 or your local emergency number first.

11.1 Supplemental Nature of Product

By creating an account with QinRec, you explicitly acknowledge that QinRec products are supplemental aids and are not intended to replace active supervision by a parent or guardian. We shall not be liable for any incidents arising from a lack of supervision or the wearer becoming lost, regardless of whether the product was being worn or functioning at the time.

11.2 Disclaimer of Specific Damages

In no event shall Civil and Space Applications LLC DBA QinRec, its directors, officers, employees, or agents be liable for any injury, loss, claim, or any direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, special, or consequential damages of any kind, including, without limitation, emotional distress, physical injury, or loss of life, arising from your use of any of the service or any products procured using the service.

11.3 Third-Party Conduct & Connectivity

We do not vet or control the actions of third-party bystanders who may scan the apparel. We disclaim all liability for the conduct, safety, or communications of any third party interacting with the wearer. Furthermore, we are not liable for the failure of the service due to factors outside our control, including but not limited to:

  • Lack of cellular or internet connectivity for the scanning party
  • Hardware failure of the scanning party’s mobile device.
  • Damage to, or fading of, the physical QR code after shipment.

11.4 Liability Cap

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the purchase or use of a QinRec product shall be strictly limited to the amount actually paid by you for the specific product giving rise to the claim.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
